Bevel is a traditional beveled laminate countertop edge. Although beveled edges for laminate countertops have been around for a few decades, we make ours different. Instead of applying separate pieces of laminate to the two faces we use a single piece of laminate and a very precise miter fold to allow the laminate pattern to flow from one face to the other leaving one less seam.
The substrate (backside or base) we use to manufacture our Bevel edge is MR-50 rated moisture resistant medium density fiberboard (MDF). For our Bevel edges, HPL (High Pressure Laminate a.k.a. the laminate) is hot glued and pressed to the substrate using high strength urethane reactant glue. The ends are unfinished, but can be finished in our own PLUS seaming method for reliable end to end joining and unlimited edge length for an up-charge.
All materials used in manufacturing Loti Corp edges are either no or low VOC and all of the surface and seam materials are considered waterproof.
Sizing and Profiles
Our Bevel laminate countertop edging is manufactured in pieces that are 106″ long x 5/16″ thick x 1-9/16″ high. They have a 45 degree beveled face and come with a flat back (FB) mounting surface style.
Our Bevel edges can be installed by anyone with decent carpentry skills and tools. The tools and skills needed to install our Bevel laminate countertop edges are common for carpenters and countertop fabricators.
A miter saw and optionally a disk sander are needed to cut to length and miter the corners. Our Beveled edges are composed of MDF and laminate, so no special blades are needed for cutting.
Masking tape and a good waterproof wood glue, such as Titebond® III, are all that are needed for attaching our Bevel edges to the countertop’s substrate. A damp rag is recommended for cleaning up squeeze out glue.
Finally, a good wax surface treatment is recommended if you wish to really make it shine. We recommend PROTECTALL™ Shine Plus. It’s great for the laminate countertop as well.
